Abstract : This paper describes challenges of urban transportation and one of the cost effective approach to intelligently manage the transportation and communication in Railways. The main objective is to find a solution of the problems faced by the passengers while travelling. It comprises of the GPS based system which helps in tracking the location of the train and displays the information on the display screen mounted in the bogies. The unit mounted in the train sends the data using GSM/GPRS module to the Central monitoring system. Due to this system, the Central Monitoring department can control the Railway transportation intelligently which would be helpful for the passengers.
